Meet & Greets

Expectant parents are welcome to attend a Meet & Greet before their baby arrives. These visits are an opportunity to tour the office, get familiar with our space, and ask general questions about newborn care and how our practice works.

Meet & Greets are informal and informational. They are not medical appointments and do not include an exam or provider-specific consultation. Their purpose is to help parents feel prepared and comfortable before their baby’s first visit.

To learn more or ask about upcoming Meet & Greets, please call our office at 252-329-7337. Information may also be shared on our Facebook page.

Planning Ahead for Your Baby’s Care

Preparing ahead can make the first days with your newborn feel a little easier. Parents are welcome to contact Children’s Health Services at any point during pregnancy with questions or to learn more about getting started.

Before calling to register your newborn, we ask that families review our current vaccine policy so expectations are clear from the beginning.

Newborns are typically seen for their first pediatric visit within 3–4 days after birth, depending on hospital discharge. Our team will help guide you through scheduling and what to expect once your baby arrives.

Your Baby’s First Pediatric Visit

Newborn visits are typically scheduled shortly after birth. During your baby’s first appointment, providers will:

  • Review birth and hospital information
  • Check weight, feeding, and growth
  • Screen for jaundice and early development
  • Answer questions about feeding, sleep, and newborn care
  • Explain what to expect in the first weeks and months

Our physicians also make hospital visits to see newborns delivered at Vidant Medical Center. Depending on delivery time, providers visit either before or after office hours.
